Four dead as truck plunges into gorge in Madhya Pradesh

At least four people have died after a truck carrying borewell machinery and laborers met with a tragic accident, plunging into a 60-foot-deep gorge near Madhya Pradesh's Agrapani Chata area on Friday. The police reported that the truck lost balance and went out of control, leading to the fatal fall. Local residents discovered the toppled vehicle in the early hours of Friday and immediately alerted authorities.

Upon arrival, rescue teams recovered four dead bodies from the wreckage. Additionally, two individuals who sustained critical injuries have been admitted to the Kukdoor Community Health Centre. There are fears that more bodies might be trapped underneath the debris, and extensive rescue operations are currently underway to extract any remaining victims. Additional police personnel and ambulances have been deployed to the site to assist in these ongoing efforts.

Authorities are working to confirm the identities of the deceased and ascertain the precise number of passengers in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Police suspect the incident occurred late at night, given the condition of the truck and its surroundings. This incident follows another recent traffic-related tragedy in the state, where a 40-hour snarl on the Indore-Dewas highway claimed three lives, underscoring persistent concerns about road safety and infrastructure.
